Module licensing guide

What this module covers for Malaysian buyers

Inventory in Essentials

Item setup, posting, costing reconciliation and multi-location transfers are available to Essentials users. Malaysian distributors often manage stock across several warehouses on Essentials without Premium, provided they do not need directed bin workflows or warehouse shipment documents.

  • Stock-keeping units per location with own costs
  • Location transfers with in-transit valuation
  • Item charges for freight allocated to receipts
  • Non-inventory and service items for non-stock lines

Premium warehouse management

Bin setup, zones, pick and put-away worksheets, warehouse receipts and shipments, and cross-docking scenarios typically require Premium user licences for staff who execute those workflows. Crest identifies which warehouse roles need Premium versus Team Member for handheld scanning with limited permissions.

  • Directed picks grouped by item, bin or destination
  • Warehouse shipment for multi-order fulfilment
  • Bin replenishment from bulk to pick face
  • First-expired-first-out picking for lot-tracked goods

Item tracking and compliance

Serial and lot tracking with expiration dates supports recall readiness and regulated industries. Tracking is licensed through full user subscriptions that post tracked transactions. Crest quotes warehouse and quality roles together on one Ringgit order.

  • Multiple lot or serial numbers per line
  • Block shipment of expired inventory
  • Trace origin and destination for audits
  • Cycle count policies for high-value SKUs

FAQ

Business Central Warehouse Malaysia - common questions

Can we run warehouses on Essentials only?

Basic inventory and location transfers work on Essentials. Directed bin management, warehouse picks and shipments usually need Premium users. Crest assesses your warehouse model before quoting.

Do handheld scanners need Premium licences?

Licence by what each user does in Business Central, not the device. Floor staff who only post pick confirmations may qualify for Team Member if permissions are read-only or limited.

Is item tracking a separate licence?

No separate tracking module SKU exists. Users who create and post tracked transactions need Essentials or Premium subscriptions that include inventory posting rights.
